Progress on May Piece

I am currently on a short stand-still with this piece. I am out of 2 colors I need to complete the back-stitching. It is actually an hour to the closest store to get floss, but we will pass-by on our way to Mississippi on Wednesday!

Holidays

I am hoping that I won't slow down too much over Thanksgiving & Christmas, but I am going to be doing some traveling! Mississippi for Thanksgiving & Arizona for Christmas. I will continue to post when I have the opportunities. I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas!

3rd Place Raffle Prize

This piece is called Tree of Life. I particularly loved this piece because I love wells. I will also finish this piece by framing it and I will post pictures once that is done!!

2nd Place Raffle Prize

This piece is called Star of Bethlehem and I have added it to the raffle as the 2nd give-away. This piece will be finished in a frame. I will post another picture as soon as that is finished.

March's Piece

I really enjoyed the detail on this piece. I enjoyed it so much I added a close-up of the screen door. I really loved the stitching to make it look like a worn door.
I finished this piece late last night.

School Days

I am finally finished with the class I took this semester!!! I aced my final and I am turning in all 74 of my assignments tomorrow. Wheeew!! I am actually very excited to get back to sewing. This class stopped me for several months.

I just finished posting all the completed pieces for the quilt. I have seven done and I am currently working on 8 & 9. Normally I do one at time but I got eight all the way done except for one color that I ran out of so I started on 9. I should have both done quickly. I can't believe that I will over half way done. I have five pieces left to complete. December, May, August, October & March. I am really looking forward to August and December's pieces.

I decided today to add a 2nd & 3rd place prize to the raffle. They are also pictures of quilts. They are by the same designer as the pieces for the raffle quilt. One is titled "Star of Bethelehem" & the other is "Tree of Life". I really like both of them and enjoyed making them so I am throwing them into the raffle. They will be finished with framing. I will post pictures of them as soon as possible.

Priorities

My sewing is sitting on my dresser staring at me. I had to make myself stop sewing until I finished my homework for school. It will take me until the end of the week to finish all my homework for the rest of the course. Between building this blog and the staring eye of my needle I will probably finish my homework even sooner, Hopefully anyway ;). So here I go today trying to finish up everything so I can sew my heart out. Or sew my heart full.

Night Owl

I was so tired yesterday. Ben was up all night the night before because he could not sleep. His chemo was keeping him awake. This does not happen very often but at least when it does he is such a good little guy about it.

We had a time change yesterday which is very foreign to me since I grew up in Arizona. We have no time changes there, except of course remembering that the rest of the nation changes and not calling my sister at 5:00am is something she could probably do without :o) Though I must say she has always been very gracious because I do it every year without fail.

I came home from Wal-mart and my wonderful husband made dinner. I watched a movie, or rather listened to it while I was sewing before bed. I fell asleep at probably eight or nine. I did not wake up until 7:00 and I must say I feel soooooo rested. I am looking forward to today.

I just finished surfing the Global Health Training website. I think it so wonderful and want to encourage my readers to take some time to sit down and read through every page. It is full of amazing works for the Lord. Bring some tissues because you might cry. It is amazing to me how different life is for these women. I feel like even though I have been through so much in such a short amount of time I AM BLESSED that it is all I have had to deal with. These women struggle for their lives and their children on a daily basis. My son is sick, but I can get him medicine. I struggle to keep his weight up but not for a lack of food. These are some of the things I thought about today.

I pray today that the Lord will use my fingers for these women.

November's Piece

I loved the colors in this one!! I remember at first I was looking at all the skeins of thread thinking I wouldn't like it, but then it all started coming together well. Plus I don't know why, but I really have always loved wagons.

January's Piece

I really enjoyed this piece. It had so much white in it and normally I don't like it when one color is used sooooo much but I actually didn't feel like the white was overwhelming. I actually finished this one while we still had snow here in Kentucky. I can't believe it almost time for snow again!!

Purpose

Sewing was always a calm thing for me. I have wonderful memories of my Aunt Debbie, who went to be with the Lord when I was a young teenager (fifteen years ago) (this was the first of several times cancer had touched my life in an impacting way). I loved my Aunt, she was amazing to me. She created many beautiful things with her hands. I was fascinated by this from the time I was very young. I do not actually remember if it was Aunt Debbie or my Mom who actually taught me to cross-stitch. I do know that it was Aunt Debbie who first made me love it SOOOO much.

It was last year about this time that I started cross-stitching again. It had been years since I had even considered it. I got married in 2004 to Matthew the love of my life. I was working full time and enjoying coming home and cooking and learning the new routine of living with my hubby. We started out living in a little apartment in Tempe, AZ. We got pregnant with our wonderful son less than a year after being married. Needless to say I had other priorities, and sewing was the last thing on my mind.

I continued to work full-time even through the birth of my second baby. Olivia Rose. She is beautiful and I love her very much. She is such a unique little girl and she blesses me and makes me laugh. She was born in June of 2008. It was a wonderful time for me and my growing little family.

In August of 2008 my husband was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer. It rocked our world in so many ways. Everything seemed to be happening at once and way to fast. Our lives changed so much in such a short amount of time. The grief was difficult and I still deal with it even now. I got pregnant at this time and miscarried at eight weeks. God continued to love me and held my hand even when I was bitter towards Him. I made it through day by day and came out stronger for it. I was unaware that this was preparing me for an even harder trial. There is nothing worse than having your spouse be sick with a serious disease. EXCEPT of course unless it is your child.

In August of 2009, almost exactly one year from the time that Matthew was diagnosed. My sweet and beautiful boy was diagnosed with Leukemia. We are still supporting him through his battle that he will fight until 2013. Needless to say our world was rocked once again. I was stronger this time in some ways and weaker in others. I never got angry or bitter with God this time. But I was crashing in other ways. I was exhausted, weary, sad, scared....so many emotions.

It happened fast but by Thanksgiving Day I was saying goodbye to most of my huge family and leaving Arizona to move to Kentucky to be with my Mom and Dad. My supporters, and two of my closest friends. The best possible people I could lean on.

Almost immediatley after moving to Kentucky I began sewing again. God began ministering to my heart with a needle and thread. Now it will be my daily prayer that God will be able to use this project to minister to others. My Auntie, wonderful woman that she is, reminded me today what a powerful thing to pray every time I pick up my sewing. May the Lord bless each stitch to reach those in need of His eternal Love.

First Post

I could not pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity to have such an awesome first post on my blog.

Here I am sitting at my computer talking to my cousin on the phone about how to best design my blog. I am not the best at computers, and I think she has the cutest blog in the world so I call her. I am on central time here in Kentucky and it was almost 11:00pm. Both my babies tucked into bed, my husband left for work half an hour ago (poor guy works nights). Someone is knocking on my door. My parents don't knock like that and my baby brother is gonna get a kick in the pants if my neice isn't in bed yet :) So....Who could it be?
A strange man of course! Words have not been invented yet on how to describe his appearance. I had my cousin stay on the phone even though one look at the guy and I knew he was not any kind of murderer or anything. I opened the door and he said "Is Mike (my dad) awake?"..."UMMMM, no" I say. He says and I quote "my coon hound has a coon treed in a tree down on the river, I just wanted to let ya'll know so's I didn't scare anyone cuz we's gonna go down there and shoot him outta that tree down yonder"..... For those of you who don't know..I am a city girl from Phoenix, AZ and I will never forget tonight for the rest of my life. I wouldn't even expect any person to believe me, EXCEPT that my cousin was on the phone and heard it all. So for a first post I believe this tops most!!

Goodnight
